The Unconquerable Heart: God’s Fist(review)

Author: Shivish

No. of pages: 425

Publisher: Self-published

Munna Kaalika, a person born with challenged abilities to a Colombian mother and an unknown Indian father, rises to become the ‘Heavy Weight Boxing champion of the World.’ His humble travel from the dingy locales of Sonagachi, Kolkata – the biggest red light area in Asia is not easy. It’s strewn with thorns of abuse and hatred. But four individuals – Kaalika Devi, Sylvia Amdur, Ethan Chapman and Hazeem Okonjo, who have faced insurmountable odds in their own lives back him. Short changed in their own lives, they would go on to lengths at each blockade of prejudice, to back him, in the path towards their combined goal, as he’s their only hope.

I received this copy in exchange of an honest review.
So, after finally finishing it (took me some time), I can easily say that it is one of those books which change you. It is not the best book that I’ve ever read but it definitely changed my thinking. It made me break perceptions, however big they be.
Plus points:
Every freaking character . I mean ,literally, every freaking character is amazing in their own little way. BTW Sylvia and Kaalika were my favourite.
The darkness. I mean there was not one thing which can be deemed as impossible. every character had his own past, and each character’s past was definitely dark.
The narrative and the writing were really good . I felt as if I was part of the story due to the writing. The narrative was different in a good way .
Negative point:
The pictures. It is my personal opinion, that they sort of objectified women. And they were a hindrance in reading this book.
This book is a must read. So guys , please give it a chance .
PS:The cover [both back and front] is awesome. Kudos to the designing team.
